FX Australia® Product Information
FX Exterior Copper
(Interior & Exterior)
FX Exterior Copper finish is a water-based, liquid paste, specifically formulated to imitate the lustre and highly decorative colours of copper. Because it’s tintable, it’s possible to produce many patinas and tones from the rich copper base, and by using a sponge, brush roller or spray, to create unusual patterns and special effects. This hard-wearing coating is a no-fuss replacement for copper sheeting and provides a simple solution wherever the decorative charm of copper is required.

Ease of application
FX Exterior Copper is used for producing many different special effects. Suitable for all surfaces such as plaster, plasterboard, iron, cement, trim, doors, furniture and timber.
All surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned and free of dirt, dust, grease, loose or flaking paint, and loose surface plaster. Efflorescence or mould on masonry or concrete surfaces must be treated. Flatten gloss surfaces by thoroughly sanding and wipe clean with a damp cloth. Then apply FX Lemon Tree Creek® Sealer Undercoat as required. If you have tinted the FX Exterior Copper coating, tint the FX Lemon Tree Creek® Sealer Undercoat to match as closely as possible.
For best results, surfaces should be well prepared and smooth.
Stir contents thoroughly before use with a broad, flat stirrer, using an upward action.
Apply the first coat by roller. Ensure the roller is very soft and between 12 mm–18 mm. The second coat may be applied by roller or with a 100 mm brush, using a criss-cross motion. Use the same method to apply subsequent coats if necessary.
Note: When rolling, use a short or medium nap roller. Back-roll to avoid inconsistent reflections.
Sponge (interior application): Prepare surface as above. Then apply 1–2 coats of FX Lemon Tree Creek® Semi-Gloss in a strong colour, such as red or black. Using a sea sponge, dab FX Exterior Copper from a small amount in paint tray lightly onto paper, then lightly onto prepared surface. Continue until surface area is covered, ensuring that base colour remains visible behind the sponge effect. For advice on sponging or other techniques, contact FX Australia.
It is important to keep a wet edge at all times. To slow down the drying time (interior applications only), add approximately 10% of FX Scumble.
Suitable for application using all standard spray equipment. Best results are achieved on smooth surfaces.
