FX Australia® Product Information
FX Mud Paint™ (Smooth & Coarse)
(Interior & Exterior)
FX Mud Paint™ (Smooth & Coarse) is a slightly textured, flat, Italian-style coating producing varied special effects, depending on application method. FX Mud Paint™ allows walls to breathe. It is an excellent coating for mud brick structures and equally practical over cement render and bare-faced brick surfaces. Choose the Smooth version for a refined, subtle finish, or Coarse for a bolder, rustic look. FX Mud Paint™ is designed to darken stylishly when wet and returns to its original colour as it dries.
Ease of application
FX Mud Paint™ (Smooth & Coarse) are premium products, producing many different special effects on surfaces such as plaster, plasterboard, cement blocks, mud bricks, bare-faced brick and cement render.
All surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned and free of dirt, dust, grease, loose or flaking paint, and loose surface plaster. Efflorescence or mould on masonry or concrete surfaces must be treated. Flatten gloss surfaces by thoroughly sanding and wipe clean with a damp cloth. Then apply FX Lemon Tree Creek® Sealer Undercoat as required.
Note: Mud Bricks – apply FX Mud Paint™ directly onto bricks. No undercoat is required.
Stir contents thoroughly before and during use with a broad, flat stirrer, using an upward action, or ideally use a power-driven mixing paddle.
Note: Thinning is usually required for the first coat. Thin with 100 ml to 300 ml of water per litre to ease application.
Note: In damp and humid conditions, the addition of an anti-mould solution is recommended for exterior use.
Use a long nap roller and apply 2–3 coats for a more effective finish. Apply the final coat (i.e. second or third coat) with a brush in a criss-cross motion to achieve a soft, textured lime effect.
Note: When using brush application for the final coat, it is recommended that the product be diluted with 1–2 litres of water to a 15 litre pail.
Note: Do not apply in direct sunlight.
Suitable for application using all standard spray equipment.
