FX Vintage Chalk - Furniture & Feature Wall Paint
FX Vintage Chalk incorporates modern technology to effortlessly reproduce the matt, distressed finish so characteristic of 'French Farmhouse" style, and much favoured in contemporary decor for its chic, timeworn charm. Ideal for smaller projects such as furniture and feature walls - and makes a perfect partner for creative coupling with many other FX Australia Effects coatings. Different application methods will vary final effect.
Ease of application
FX Vintage Chalk produces many different special effects on prepared surfaces such as plaster and plasterboard and is also ideal for use on timber walls, furniture, and decorative pieces.
All surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned and free of dirt, dust, grease, loose or flaking paint, and loose surface plaster. Efflorescence or mould must be treated. Flatten gloss surfaces by thoroughly sanding and wipe clean with a damp cloth.
Stir contents thoroughly before use with a broad, flat stirrer using an upward action.
Apply a minimum of two coats using a 75mm or 100mm brush. To achieve a classic distressed finish, the first coat should be darker than the second and subsequent coats. Each coat requires light sanding before proceeding to the next coat, so that the base colour is always revealed.
To protect the finish and complete the distressed look, 1-2 coats of FX Liquid Wax is recommended. Apply wax with a clean, white cloth. By tinting the wax, your project or furniture piece will look even more authentic.
Additional: For truly individual pieces, highlight mouldings and raised panels with FX Liquid Metal Gold, FX Liquid Metal Silver or FX Vintage Crackle. See relevant FX Product Information Sheets.
